Additional information

No results are available for the bioaccumulation of synthetic rutile in aquatic species. Therefore, read-across is proposed to reliable results for the bioaccumulation of TiO2 in fish, based on analysis of Ti concentration in various organs. Ti concentrations in the fish tissues stayed constant over the concentration range of TiO2 in water tested (0-1 mg TiO2/L), resulting in decreasing BCF with increasing TiO2 concentrations in water. Therefore, synthetic rutile is not considered as bioaccumulative.
