Description of key information

No data is avaialble on the carcinogenicity potential, neither for primary alkylamines in general nor for octadecylamines in particular. However, negative data from mutagenicity testing in vitro and in vivo as well as sparce data from chronic toxicity tests in animals do not give a concern that primary alkylamines such as octadecylamines may have a carcinogenic potential.

Additional information

Negative data from mutagenicity testing in vitro and in vivo as well as sparce data from chronic toxicity tests in animals do not give a concern that primary alkylamines such as octadecylamines may have a carcinogenic potential. Based hereupon respective classification is not warranted. This conclusion is in line with the existing EU risk assessment on primary alkylamines.
