Description of key information

Flammability:
Under the conditions of the test described the Neodymium alloy (powder form) could be ignited and react over the whole length of a sample in less than 10 minutes.
Pyrophoricity:
Under the conditions of the test the Neodymium alloy (powder form) is not a pyrophoric solid.
Flammability in contact with water:
Under the conditions of the test the Neodymium alloy (powder form) is not flammable in contact with water.
Self-heating:
Under the conditions of the test described the Neodymium alloy (powder form) is a self-heating substance

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
highly flammable

Additional information

The described tests were performed similar to an internationally accepted guideline and considered to be reliable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Elemental Neodymium (in alloys) in mixture in a form of powder should be classified as highly flammable (flammable solid 2, H228).
