Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
Not a skin sensitiser. The study available on Sodium borohydride is scientifically acceptable, but not guideline-compliant and used a very low concentration (0.1%) due to the corrosivity of the substance. Additionally, obviously not sodiumborohydride but the hydrolysis product boric acid was in fact tested. Due to the corrosivity and instant hydrolysis, additional testing of sodium borohydride is not warranted, and a formal waiver is brought forward for the endpoint.
The weight of evidence from the available study and from animal studies and human evidence from boric acid indicate that sodium borohydride is not expected to be a skin sensitiser.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance was not sensitizing in a guinea pig sensitization study. There is no classification with respect to sensitization.
