Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to Annex IX of REACh Legislation, chronic toxicity testing shall be proposed if the chemical safety assessment indicates the need to investigate further the chronic effects on fish. Exposure of aquatic organisms towards the substance can be excluded due to dedicated manufacture and handling practice of the substance and the safety and risk mitigation measures at the sites. Production and handling takes place under primarily strictly controlled conditions. Hence, further testing on fish is considered to be not necessary which is confirmed by the environmental exposure assessment in the respective chapter of the Chemical Safety Report.

Besides, low acute toxicity to fish is indicated by an EC50(96h) value of >100 mg/L, thus fish are less sensitive than daphnids or algae (EC50 of 24.3 mg/L and 75.7 mg/L, respectively). For algae, a long-term value is available (NOECr(72h)=9.4 mg/L).
