Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Yttrium oxide does not show any potential for bioaccumulation in fish, the preferred species as recommended in REACH Annex IX.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Some published data are available. Being well-described, they were scored as Klimisch 2 and flagged as key and supporting studies. These enclosed studies clearly demonstrate that yttrium species and other rare earth elements are not accumulative in the tested biota of the water and the sediment phase nor in fish (Qiang, 1994, Hao et al. 1997 and Yang et al., 1999). As some of the studies deal with an yttrium compound, it is used in a read-across approach to conclude on the bioaccumulation potential of yttrium oxide.
