This means that the flash point of the test substance is 68°C
Description of key information
The flash point of Di-tert-butyl 1,1,4,4-tetramethyltetramethylene diperoxide is 68°C.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
- 68 °C
Additional information
Batch number 1002516115 is the current (2011) commercial product, so this flashpoint is chosen to be the key study.
The flash point of the product is strongly influenced by the amount of the impurity di-tert-butylperoxide.
Flash points in the range of 30 to > 85°C are reported, depending on the amount of di-ter-butylperoxide.
The flash point according to the MSDS is 56°C.
The flash point of the purified substance(content 99.3 to 99.4 %) is above 85°C, caused by material escaping from the self-accerelating decomposition.
The SADT(Self-Accerelating Decomposition Temperature) of the sample is 80°C
The flash point of products from 2008 and 2009 is 71- 77 °C.
At a concentration of 0.3 % Di tert. butylperoxide the flash point is 77°C.
At a concentration of 0.6 % Di tert. butylperoxide the flash point is 71°C.
Average value of the impurity di-tert-butylperoxide from 1-Januari-2009 till 30-Juni-2011: 0.53 %.
