Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The molecule does not possess any readily hydrolysable functional groups (esters, carbamates, epoxides, halomethanes (containing 1-3 halogens), and specific alkyl halides), and thus is expected to be stable in water.

Additional information

From a structural perspective, this molecule does not possess any readily hydrolysable functional groups (esters, carbamates, epoxides, halomethanes (containing 1-3 halogens), and specific alkyl halides), and thus is expected to be stable in water. Process chemistry and thermodynamics provide insight on the hydrolysis of primary amines. Some aliphatic primary amines are manufactured by reacting an aliphatic alcohol with ammonia over a catalyst. For these amines, it is known that the equilibrium of the process strongly favours amine production. Furthermore, the activation energy demand is of a magnitude that prevents these reactions from proceeding at ambient temperature and pH.
