Description of key information

BCF = 3.286 – 123.4 L/Kg ww (QSAR on components and representative theoretical structure)
BCF = 2072 L/Kg ww (worst case QSAR on representative theoretical hydrolysis product )

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
2 072 L/kg ww

Additional information

The logKow of 2,5-Furandione, dihydro-, mono-C15-20-alkenyl derivs. ranges from 8.31 – 10.42 based on the components. However, since the substance shows low discharge and fast hydrolysis, thus suggesting unlikely direct and indirect exposure, so that no bioaccumulation can be expected.

Moreover, QSAR calculations of the BCF have been performed with representative structures of the known components of 2,5-Furandione, dihydro-, mono-C15-20-alkenyl derivs. and a representative theoretical structure ASA T16. The ranges as calculated are very wide as the resulting BCFs are between 3.286 – 123.4 L/Kg ww, respectively.

Conducting an experimental study on the whole UVCB substance 2,5-Furandione, dihydro-, mono-C15-20-alkenyl derivs. would not be technically feasible because of the complexity of the measurements required.

However, to consider the worst case, the calculated BCF of 2027 L/kg ww for the representative hydrolysis product (ASA T16 H) is used for risk assessment.
