Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Remarks:
Differential Scanning Calorimetry
Melting / freezing pt.:

Extrapolated onset temperature (°C) Peak temperature (°C)* Extrapolated end temperature (°C)
measurement A -32.0 -8.4 -5.3
measurement B -31.7 -8.2 -5.0
mean -32 -8 -5

*:with Seebeck correction

The test item shows a broad melting range from about -32°C up to about -5°C.

The melting point was found to be at -8°C (peak temperature).

Estimated accuracy: ± 1°C

Observed thermic processes:

A very small peak was observed at about -60°C. This may due to a secondary component.

A reproducible glass transition was found at -47°C in the 2nd heating.

An endothermic peak starting at about 340°C, with the registered loss of mass, shows the vaporization of the test item.

To survey the thermic behaviour of the test item the determination was run up to 500°C. Exothermic decomposition was not observed.

Conclusions:
The melting point of the test substance is -8°C.
Executive summary:

The melting point was found to be -8 °C in a study performed according to OECD 102 and GLP.
