For all three trophic levels short term studies for op-TSA are available:

Two short-term studies, valid with restrictions, are available with op-TSA. The studies were conducted as static tests without analysis according to EPA660/3 -75 -009 and APHA, 1975 guideline which is similar to OECD guideline 203. Oncorhynchus mykiss was most sensitive with a 96h-LC50 of 120 mg/L, based on nominal concentrations.

A static test with Daphnia magna was performed according to OECD 202 guideline with o-TSA. op-TSA shows similar toxicity as o-TSA it is assumed that this endpoint for o-TSA can be used for op-TSA as well.

The 48h-EC50 = 210 mg/L, based on nominal concentrations.

A static test with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was performed according to OECD 201 guideline with o-TSA. op-TSA shows similar toxicity as o-TSA it is assumed that this endpoint for o-TSA can be used for op-TSA as well.

The 72h-EC50 for growth rate is 170 mg/L, based on measured concentrations (arithm. mean).

Two long-term studies are availalbe with o-TSA:

A semi-static test with Daphnia magna was performed according to OECD 211 guideline. op-TSA shows similar toxicity as o-TSA it is assumed that this endpoint for o-TSA can be used for op-TSA as well.

The NOEC for reproduction was found to be 49 mg/L, based on measured TWA concentrations.

A static test with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was performed according to OECD 201 guideline. The 72h-NOEC for growth rate is 7.7 mg/L, based on measured concentrations (arithm. mean).

One study, valid without restrictions, is available with Chloramine T (CAS 127 -65 -1)

(Geerts, 2012). As Chloramine T is instantly converted to p-TSA in the presence of organic material and p-TSA shows similar toxicity to op-TSA, this study can be used for op-TSA as well. Toxicity to microorganisms was determined according to OECD Guideline 209 and the 3h-EC10 was found to be 14 mg/L (nominal). The 3h-EC50 was 37 mg/L (nominal). Converted to op-TSA the 3h-EC10 and and 3h-EC50 are 10.5 mg/L and 27.8 mg/L, respectively.
