Description of key information

Short-term toxicity testing to fish was conducted with Poecilia reticulata under GLP according to OECD guideline 203.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water fish

Fresh water fish
Effect concentration:
560 mg/L

Additional information

The LC50 (96 hours) of propylene glycol butyl ether was >560 mg/l in a GLP guideline study conducted in Poecilia reticulata. This data is supported by the results of a non-GLP non-guideline study of acceptable quality in Pimephales promelas, showing an LC50 (96 hours) of 1060 mg/l These results indicate that PnB is not toxic to freshwater aquatic species.
