Additional information

Xylene isomers are expected to degrade by indirect photolysis in air, with an estimated half-life of around 1 day, by reaction with hydroxyl radicals (Atkinson 1985). These data indicate that indirect photolysis is expected to be a significant route of xylene removal from the environment.

The xylene isomers are not expected to undergo hydrolysis in the environment due to a lack of hydrolysable functional groups.
