Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information:
Remove affected persons from the danger area, at the same time ensuring your own safety.
Remove all contaminated clothing immediately.
After inhalation:
Supply fresh air and call for doctor for safety reasons.
In case of unconsciousness place in recovery position.
After skin contact:
Instantly wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.
After eye contact:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
Keep eye wide open while rinsing.
Remove contact lenses.
After swallowing:
Do not induce vomiting.
Obtain emergency medical attention
Notes to physician:
The following symptoms may occur:
Headache
Dazed
Unconsciousness
Dry skin
Danger:
If swallowed or in case of vomiting, danger of entering the lungs.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing agents:
CO2, extinguishing powder or water spray jet. Fight larger fires with water spray jet or alcohol-resistant foam.
For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents:
Do not use solid water stream
Protective equipment:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Further measures:
Cool endangered containers with water spray jet.
Move containers from fire area if possible without risk
Particular hazards:
Vapours are heavier than air, and spread at floor level.
Conflagration may occur over wide distances.
The product floats on water and may re-ignite on the surface of water.
Accidental release measures
Person-related safety precautions:
Wear protective equipment.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Keep away from ignition sources.
Keep unprotected persons away.
Measures for environmental protection:
Do not allow product to reach sewage system or water bodies.
Inform respective authorities in case product reaches water, sewage system or soil.
Measures for cleaning/collecting:
Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders, sawdust).
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Observe the instructions for disposal given in Chapter 13 of safet data sheet.
Handling and storage
Handling:
Instructions for safe handling:
Avoid product contact and inhalation.
Wear personal protective equipment.
Avoid inhalation of product vapours and aerosols.
When working in enclosed areas, ensure sufficient ventilation and extraction.
Information about protection against explosions and fires:
Highly flammable liquid.Vapour heavier than air, forms an explosive mixture in air.
Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke.
Protect against electrostatic charges.
Storage:
Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers:
Provide solvents resistant, sealed floor.
Store the product in well sealed containers in a cool dry area.
Information about storage in one common storage facility:
Do not store together with strong oxidising agents.
Further details on storage conditions:
Protect from heat and direct sunlight.
Store in a cool place.
Heat will increase pressure and may lead to the container exploding.
Suitable materials and coating:
C-steel, stainless steel, epoxy resins, zinc silicate paint
Unsuitable materials or coatings:
Natural, butyl or nitrile rubber
