Description of key information

For dipotassium persulfate, no study was available. However, company data on dust explosiveness revealed no such properties for the substance (see section 4.14: Degussa, 2001). This was used to support a read across approach which was applied from the category member diammonium persulfate, as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties.

Additional information

For dipotassium persulfate, no study was available. However, company data on dust explosiveness revealed no such properties for the test substance (Degussa, 2001). This was used to support a read across approach which was applied to assess explosiveness using data from the category member diammonium persulfate (Degussa, Study No. 89/02646, 1989) as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties. As diammonium persulfate was determined not explosive (Degussa, 1989), dipotassium persulfate was considered not explosive as well.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Assessment of explosive properties for dipotassium persulfate was based on company data and a read across approach from the category member diammonium persulfate, as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties. Based on the results obtained as well as on experience in handling and use, dipotassium persulfate was not classified with respect to explosiveness when taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
