Description of key information

No determination was performed by the flask method, designed to be compatible with Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995. The test item was concluded to hydrolyse fully within 10 minutes of contact with water. Thus, it was considered that the water solubility test was not feasible as the guideline states that the test is not applicable to unstable substances.

A data waiver was used to fulfil this endpoint based on the information given in the Butler & White (2010) study. A reliability rating of 1 was assigned to this study, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the study was conducted to recognised guidelines, however due to the nature of the substance, a water solubility could not be obtained.

In the Ventur, 1989 study the water solubility was determined to be 1.6 ± 0.1 mg/l. However this was using the same method as the above study (OECD 105) and so a reliability rating of 3 was assigned to this study, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the nature of the substance would indicate that the study is not technically feasible.

In a supporting study (Waterson et al, 1994) the water solubility was determined to be 0.02 - 0.06 mg/L.
