Description of key information

self ignition temperature: 263 °C
not self heating according to UN.4

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The self ignition of Nickel hydrogencitrate was tested according to the EU method A.16 using a cube with an edge length of 20 mm and heating up from room temperature until the self ignition temperature was reached. A very sharp increase in the temperature of the test item was observed at an oven temperature of 263 °C, so this value could be stated as the self-ignition temperature.

For CLP-classification as self-heating substance a test according to the guideline UN.4 was performed. No increase of the temperature in the test item of 60 °C above the oven temperature was observed by using a cube with an edge length of 100 mm at a temperature of 140 °C and an exposure period of 24 h. In addition, no signs of ignition were detectable . Therefore, no other experiments were necessary and the test item Nickel hydrogencitrate should be classified as no self-heating substance.
