First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical
attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with plenty of water and seek medical attention
immediately.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide or dry powder may be used.
Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and
nitrogen together with hydrogen chloride gas.

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing
apparatus should be worn.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Take
precautions to prevent dust formation, and extinguish all
ignition sources. Sweep up spill and transfer to suitable
sealed containers and dispose of by incineration in
accordance with local regulations.
Avoid release to waterways, drains and soil.
Handling and storage
Handling: Ensure adequate ventilation. Suitable protective clothing
(e.g. overalls), rubber gloves, anti-static footwear (BS
5451 or DIN Standard 4843) and safety goggles (BS 2092/2)
should be worn. When airborne contamination is likely local
exhaust ventilation should be used, and an air-
supplied hood, dust mask or appropriate HSE approved
respirator should be worn (conforming to CEN Standards pr EN
140 and pr EN 141, BS 2091 as a protection P3).
All techniques to minimise dust formation should be used.
Measures should also be taken to minimise ignition, e.g.
milling and centrifuging equipment and vessels where
charging of the powder occurs should be earthed. Inert
atmospheres (e.g. using nitrogen) should be used where
applicable. Earthing, inerting and explosion venting should
be used in driers.
Storage: Store in a cool, dark, dry place in polyethylene lined steel
drums.
