In a modified Sturm test according OECD 301B the test substance bis-(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl)peroxydicarbonate could not be demonstrated to be readily biodegradable under the chosen test conditions. This does not mean that the substance does not degrade under environmentally relevant conditions. To further investigate degradability in freshwater a corresponding simulation test would be required. In view of the physicochemical properties of the substance (high adsorption coefficient) a testing proposal for a water-sediment degradation study (OECD 308) is submitted.

Since direct and indirect exposure of soil can be excluded (negligible vapour pressure, hence no deposition via air; mandatory incineration of sewage sludge, hence no emission to soil) testing of degradation in soil is not considered to be required.
