Description of key information

Pyrophoric properties:
No pyrophoric properies were observed in a test conducted at room temperature (Bayer AG, 1994)
According to EU-method A.13 (Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids)
The flammability of a substance is determined following the method N.1 (UN-manual of testing) or A.10 (EU-method). But in accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a study is technically not feasible as the substance is a liquid. The flammability of a liquid is described by the flash point.
Contact with water:
The flammability of a substance in contact with water is determined following the methods N.5 (UN-Manual of testing) or A.12 (EU-method). But in accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically not necessary. During handling and use, the substance does not liberate highly flammable gases in contact with water or humid air.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on experience during handling and use of aspartic acid, N,N'-(methylenedi-4,1-cyclohexanediyl)bis-, 1,1',4,4'-tetraethyl ester, the liberation of highly flammable gases through the contact with water or humid air can be excluded.

A test according to method A.13 for the determination of pyrophoric properties showed that

aspartic acid, N,N'-(methylenedi-4,1-cyclohexanediyl)bis-, 1,1',4,4'-tetraethyl ester has no pyrophoric properties.
