Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The test substance is not supposed to be directly applied to sediment and an indirect exposure to sediment is unlikely since the substance is readily biodegradable. For substances being considered as „readily biodegradable“, it can be assumed that they will be biologically degraded within the STP-process. In special cases, if the substance is not entering the STP-process but is readily biodegradable, it can be assumed that it will be rapidly biological degraded in the surface water. In both cases, a transfer to the sediment compartment is unlikely. Therefore, no tests on sediment organisms are provided.

Moreover, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006, Annex 1, Section 6.4, the chemical safety assessment for 1-(2-hydroxypropylamino)propan-2-ol demonstrates that 1) the exposure levels estimated in all relevant scenarios do not exceed the appropriate PNEC, and 2) the likelihood and severity of an event occurring due to the physicochemical properties of the substance in the sediment compartment and in the aquatic environment are negligible; therefore, the criteria for adaptation are met. Specifically, all risk characterization ratios are under 1.0; and there are no physicochemical hazards identified for this substance in the sediment and the aquatic environment. Therefore, no test on sediment organisms is indicated.
