MAA was shown to be ready and inherently biodegradable. In the key study, MAA was tested according to OECD Guideline 301 F (Ready biodegradability: Manometric Respiration Test). After 28 days of exposure, the rate of biodegradation amounted to 94%. In a supporting inherent biodegradation study similar to the Zahn-Wellens method (OECD 302B), an elimination of 100% after 5 days was observed. Experimental determination of biodegradation in water and sediment and biodegradation in soil were waived.
