Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
29 June, 2005 to 02 August 2005
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline study
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
shake-flask method to: flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
ca. -0.09
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
ca. 7.5
Remarks on result:
other: +/- 0.01 for log Pow and +/- 0.1 for temperature and pH
Details on results:
HPLC: As two peaks corresponding to the test item were detected close to the peak of dead volume, the estimation of log Pow using this method was not performed.

Shake Flask: For each ratio value, the concentration of p-Aminophenol (A016) in each phase was in good
agreement with the theoretical concentration of the stock solution. The pH values of the aqueous phases at the end of the shaking were 7.5 ± 0.1. For each ratio value, the concentration of p-Aminophenol (A016) in each phase was in good agreement with the theoretical concentration of the stock solution.

Conclusions:
Based on shake-flask method: log Pow = - 0.09 ± 0.01 at 25°C ± 1°C.

Description of key information

The key study finding was log Pow at -0.09 at 25C and pH 7.5. The supporting experimental finding was log Pow < 0.3 at 25C. A log Kow of 0.04 was reported in a secondary source included as a supporting study.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-0.09
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

There is one key study and one supporting study from experimental reports. A second supporting study was included from a secondary reference source.
