Description of key information

According to structural properties, hydrolysis is not expected. Moreover, the substance is readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to Kollig et al. (1993), Boethling & Mackay (2000) and Harris (1990), 3 -aminopropano-1 -ol (CAS 156 -87 -6) is generally resistant to hydrolysis because it does not contain any labile functional groups. According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, Section 9.2.2.1, Column 2 the study on hydrolysis as a function of pH does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. 3 -Aminopropan-1 -ol (CAS 156 -87 -6) is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria as determined in a study according to OECD 301C (see IUCLID Ch. 5.2.1). Therefore, no study on hydrolysis is performed.
