Additional information

According to the standard information requirements in Annex IX point 9.4 column 2, studies on terrestrial toxicity do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely.

During production, exposure of the soil compartment to diphenyl sulphone is unlikely. The substance is not directly released to the soil. The waste water is directed via the sewer to the municipal sewage treatment plant. The effluent is released to a canal. The sludge is burned in an authorized facility. Also during downstream use, direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. Soil toxicity testing of diphenyl sulphone is not required.
