Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No toxicological effects on aquatic invertebrates are expected up to the limit of water solubility for Isooctadecanoic acid (0.24 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study, investigating the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, branched and linear (CAS 68955-98-6) was used as read across in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. grouping of substance and read across approach, for Isooctadecanoic acid (CAS No. 30399-84-9).

This OECD 202 acute immobilisation study for Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, branched and linear was conducted under static test conditions and with Daphnia magna (Sewell, 1994). During the test no immobilised daphnids or other adverse effects were observed during the 48h test period exposed to a 1000 mg/L Water Accommodated Fraction loading rate (NOELR > 1000 mg/L). Thus, no effects up to the limit of the water solubility of the test substance occur.

Based on this result, and due to the structural and profile similarities of the two substances, as are explained with in the over all endpoint summary it can be concluded that no toxicological effects on aquatic invertebrates are expected up to the limit of water solubility for Isooctadecanoic acid (0.24 mg/L).
