Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point was determined to be < -75°C as per OECD 102.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-75 °C

Additional information

The key value of melting point was determined by using the Differential Scanning Calorimetry (OECD 102) in accordance with GLP. Due to inconclusive results from the intended method, a freezing point method was implemented instead. This method deviated from the OECD method for freezing method. The melting point was determined to be <-75°C.

Titanium(4+) ethanolate is hydrolytically unstable. When it comes in contact with water or moisture, a complete hydrolysis will take place with no significant reaction products other than ethanol and hydrated titanium dioxide. Because of rapid hydrolysis, read-across data on the melting point of ethanol, -114 deg. Celsius, released from the substance is used as a key value in exposure assessment (peer-reviewed secondary source; Corcoran et al. 1953).
