Description of key information

The effect of 1-chlorobutane on Desmodesmus subspicatus was described with an EC50(72h) nominal value of >450 mg/L and a NOEC(72h) of nominally 90 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
450 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
90 mg/L

Additional information

The key study for acute toxicity of 1-chlorobutane to Desmodesmus subspicatus was conducted according to EU Method C.3 and under GLP under static conditions in the concentrations of 30 to 450 mg/L. After 72 hours, an ErC50(72h) of >450 mg/L was determined, with a NOECr(72h) of 90 mg/L.
