Additional information

Direct Brown 44 was tested for acute toxicity study on fish in two good recent studies. For both the value of LC50 is set around 20 mg/L. But while the Zok S. (2004) study is in GLP, this is only a limit test without dose range examination. The resulting value is then that no effect was found until 22.31 mg/L. In the Key study, instead the dose ranging is complete and centered on the right toxicity range. Even if the study has not been performed in GLP, it is as well complete and scientifically valid. The Riva C. (2000) study has been then chosen as key and the value of LC50 = 19 mg/L has been selected for chemical safety assessment.
