Description of key information

Photo-transformation of the category substances on soil surfaces is not an important process affecting fate of the substances of the MDI category in the environment. It can be assured that this is a negligible removal mechanism, as the rate of hydrolysis would predominate over the rate of any photolytic degradation on soil surfaces where contact with water in soil and the atmosphere would also occur. The rapid degradation of MDI substances in soil by other reactive mechanisms is described above, and the lack of experimental or predicted photo-transformation in soil data is not considered as being a deficit for the assessment of potential environmental exposures to the MDI substances
