Description of key information

Acutely toxic to aquatic algae.
ErC50 (72 h) = 6.98 mg/L (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata, OECD TG 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of hydroxypropyl acrylate to aquatic algae was investigated according to OECD Guideline 201. After 72 hours of exposure to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata an ErC50 of 6.98 mg/L was measured using the growth rate as endpoint. The NOEC was determined to be 0.625 mg/L (HEA/HPA Consortium, 2004).

Based on this result the test substance is acutely toxic to aquatic algae. This assessment is supported by data from the structural analogue 2 -Hydroxyethyl acrylate.
