Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex X, the long-term toxicity testing to sediment organisms shall be proposed depending on the results of the chemical safety assessment. Vinylcaprolactam is inherently biodegradable, is not expected to adsorb to solid soil phase and does not accumulate significantly in organisms. Results from the pelagic studies indicate that the substance is acutely not harmful with high probability (EC50 >100 mg/L). The chronic data from algae indicate that the NOEC is > 1 mg/L. The equilibrium partitioning method can be used to assess the hazard for sediment organisms.
