Description of key information

Photolysis of a range of benzyltrimethylammonium in water or methanol at 253.7 nm gave typically benzyl alcohols, toluenes, bibenzyls and isomers, and di- and tri-methylammonium salts. The half life for these reactions to occur was in the range of 1 -2 hours.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in water:
2 h
