Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
No toxic effects occur at the range of the substances solubility.
EC50 (48h) > 100 mg/L (nominal) for Daphnia magna (OECD 202)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since no data of acute toxicity on daphnia for the described pigment are available, a read-across to a similar pigment (CAS 30125 -47 -4) is used to cover this endpoint. In a GLP guideline study according to OECD 202 the acute toxicity on the waterflea Daphnia magna was investigated. The test was performed with an aqueous extract (Eluate) of the test substance.

Up to the highest test concentration of 100 mg/L (nominal) no toxic effects after 48 hours of exposure were observed [Ecology and Environmental Analytics, BASF AG, 1999].
