Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic invertebrates. No toxic effects occur at the range of the substances solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since no data of acute toxicity on daphnia for the described pigment are available, read-across to similar pigments (EC 600-735-2 and CAS 30125-47-4) is used to cover this endpoint. In two GLP guideline studies according to OECD 202 the acute toxicity on the waterflea Daphnia magna was investigated. Due to the low solubility of EC 600-735-2 a limit test using a loading rate of 100 mg/L was conducted (BASF SE 2014). No effects occurred after 48 h of exposure. The test using CAS 30125-47-4 was performed with an aqueous extract (Eluate) of the test substance.

Also, up to the highest test concentration of 100 mg/L (nominal) no toxic effects after 48 hours of exposure were observed [Ecology and Environmental Analytics, BASF AG, 1999]. Therefore, it can be concluded that the test items are not acutely harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
