Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Viscosity
Administrative data
Link to relevant study record(s)
- Endpoint:
- viscosity
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 21-07-2011
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Remarks:
- Well performed GLP study in accordance with CIPAC method MT 22. Although the result (0.92 cSt) is just below the minimum measurement limit as specified in the test guideline (1.2 cSt), the test result is considered reliable.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- other: CIPAC method MT 22 1994, reprinted 2007
- Deviations:
- yes
- Remarks:
- Result below the minimum measurement limit as specified in the test guideline.
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Type of method:
- capillary viscometer (static)
- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- - Name of test material (as cited in study report): MOPA, 3-methoxypropylamine
- Physical state: Liquid
- Analytical urity: 99.4% by GC
- Purity test date: 12-04-2010
- Lot/batch No.: 9M603 - Key result
- Temp.:
- 20°C
- Parameter:
- kinematic viscosity (in mm²/s)
- Value:
- 0.92
- Remarks on result:
- other: The viscosity reported is the mean of 3 results.
- Conclusions:
- The kinematic viscosity of the substance was determined to be 0.92 mm2/s (mean of 3 results) at 20°C.
Reference
Each of the three measurements showed a viscosity of 0.92 mm2/s
The obtained result is below the minimum measurement limit as specified in the test guideline. However, due to the time taken for the sample to pass through the viscometer (approx 300 seconds) it is deemed that the result is valid and accurate.
Description of key information
The kinematic viscosity of the test substance was determined in a GLP study according to CIPAC test method MT 22 to be 0.92 mm2/s at 20 °C, applying a capillary U-tube viscometer (Shajad Younis, 2011)
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Viscosity:
- 0.92 mm²/s (static)
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
