Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl-, manuf. of, by-products from, distn. Residues, a complex mixture of non-ionic organic substances is a clear light brown liquid UVCB item with a solubility of 0.79 g/L in demineralised water at 20°C, a log Pow of 1.6, a vapour pressure of 19 Pa at 20°C and boiling point(s) ranging from 201 to 365°C. The substance consists of at least 25 components, four of them could be identified. The identified constituents are in a moleclar weight range of 72 -260 Da. Based on the starting materials and the manufacutring process constituents with a molecular weight above 500 Da are not expected The main toxicokinetic properties of 1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl-, manuf. of, by-products from, distn. Residues are assessed on the basis of its physico-chemical properties and with special regard to the results of the standard toxicity tests performed with this test item.

The log Pow, water solubility and the molecular weight distribution of 1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl-, manuf. of, by-products from, distn. Residues indicate a moderate to high absorption via all routes after exposure.

Only four out of 25 detected components could be structurally characterised. Therefore it is not possible to predict the metabolic pathway for the majority of the components. Within the data set, there is no indication for toxic metabolite formation associated with exposure to 1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl-, manuf. of, by-products from, distn. Residues. This finding is supported by the lack of both, specific target organ toxicity following repeated dose exposures and the lack of differences in genotoxicity and cytotoxicity when comparing 1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl-, manuf. of, by-products from, distn. Residues exposed cell cultures with and without a metabolic activation system.

Based on the above-mentioned properties, water soluble 1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl-, manuf. of, by-products from, distn. Residues and its potential polar metabolites are considered to be rapidly and quantitatively excreted in the urine. The log Pow indicates no potential for accumulation in the tissues.
