- In case of unconsciousness place and transport casualty in stable position (lying sideways).

- Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately and dispose of safely.

- breathing with bag valve mask or breathing apparatus

After inhalation:

- Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

- Summon a doctor immediately.

After skin contact:

- In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with soap and water.

- Summon a doctor immediately.

After eye contact:

- In case of contact with eyes rinse open eyes thoroughly with water.

- Summon a doctor immediately.

After ingestion:

- Summon a doctor immediately.

Note for physician:

Following symptoms might occur:

- convulsions

- dizziness

- Apathy

- Dyspnoea

- bloody diarrhoea

- after skin contact: in case of longer contact: corrosion, blistering and necrosis

Hazards:

- Risk of perforation of the stomach

- Risk of brain oedema

- Risk of pulmonary oedema

- Risk of skin resorption

- Risk of sensitisation via skin contact

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

- Carbon dioxide; dry powder or water, as water mist

- Fight larger fire with alcohol resistant foam

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, its combustion products or from resulting gases:

- In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: sulphur oxides; carbon monoxide (CO); risk of formation of toxic pyrolysis products; under certain conditions of combustion traces of other toxic substances cannot be excluded.

Special protective equipment for fire fighting:

- Do not breathe gases resulting from explosion or fire

- Wear full protective suit.

- Use ambient air independent breathing apparatus.

Additional information:

- Cool endangered containers with water spray jet.

- Fire residues and contaminated fire fighting water must me disposed in accordance with the local regulations and must not reach canalisation

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

- Use breathing apparatus if exposed to gases/vapours/dust/aerosol

- Use personal protective clothing

- Keep people away and stay on the upwind side

- keep away  ignition sources

Environmental precautions:

- Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods for cleaning up/taking up:

- Pick up mechanically

- Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water as detailed under disposal considerations

- Decontaminate other small residues or devices with aqueous ammonia or ethanol solution for at least 24 hours

- Disposal as special waste in special waste incineration installation with downstream flue gas scrubber

-Provide for adequate ventilation

Additional information:

- Take up liquid parts resp. liquefied material with suitable absorbent (sand, sawdust, kieselguhr, multi-purpose-binder) and dispose according to regulations

- See information personal protective equipment

- See information on disposal considerations

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Manufacturer/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.

Hints on safe handling:

- Provide for adequate ventilation / exhaust at working place

- Provide good room ventilation even at ground level (vapours are heavier than air)

- Perform filling operations only at stations with exhaust ventilation facilities

- Open container only in presence of local exhaust ventilation

- Transfer and handle only in enclosed systems

- Avoid formation of aerosols

Hints for protection against fire and explosion:

- Emergency cooling must be provided for the eventuality of a fire in the vicinity.

- Keep away ignition sources. Do not smoke.

Storage:

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels:

- Seamless smooth floors and walls

- Keep only in original container

- Prevent penetration into the ground

- Access only for professionals

Hints on storage assembly:

- Do not store together with oxidizing agent. Do not store with strong bases or acids

Additional information on storage:

- Keep container tightly closed; store in a cold and dry place

- Keep container at well ventilated place

- Protect container against humidity and water

- Substance is hygroscopic
