Guidance on Safe Use

First-aid measures

General Advice:

Show this material safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Eye Contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses. Obtain medical attention.

Skin Contact:

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Consult a physician. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse.

Inhalation:

Remove from exposure, lie down. Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Obtain medical attention.

Ingestion:

Rinse mouth. Drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:

• Exposure may result in reddening, tears and itching of the eyes and soreness in the nose and throat, together with coughing

• May cause sensitization by skin contact

• Chronic exposure causes drying effect on the skin and eczema

• In the event of fire, cool tanks with water spray

• Keep product and empty container away from heat and sources of ignition

• Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.

• Wash hands after handling

• Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas

• Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location

• Avoid breathing vapors or mists
