Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
1992
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
The value for the log Pow of DBMC is cited in various reliable literature sources such as the SIDS report (2000) or in the EPIWIN programme, but the original study report of the experimental determination is not available. Hence the value for the partition coefficient of DBMC/Vulkanox is reliable with restrictions.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:

Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
shake-flask method to: flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
6.25
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH not reported
Details on results:
Not reported

The partition coefficient of DBMC is 6.25 at 20 °C as determined experimentally with the shake flask method.

Conclusions:
The log Pow is experimentally determined to be 6.25 at 20 °C.
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient log Pow of DBMC is 6.25 at 20 °C as determined experimentally with the shake flask method.

Description of key information

Three data sources delivered similar partition coefficient values (MITI Japan, 1992; Bayer, 1989). In agreement with CITI Japan, 1992; LANXESS SDS, 2009; Merck SDS, 2006; PBT Working Group, 2009; ChemIDplus, 2009, the log Pow value of 6.25 at 20 °C as determined with the shake-flask method was used for the CSA.
