Endpoint:
water solubility
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Conclusions:
Determination of water solubility is technically not feasible and is not
required for aluminum alkyls.

Description of key information

1191-15-7, diisobutylaluminium hydride,

The endpoint is waived: The substance is water reactive.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to the Annex VII Standard Information Requirements for REACH, determination of water solubility is required. Column 2 - specific rules for adaption from column 1 - states that water solubility does not need to be determined in case the substance is hydrolytically unstable or readily oxidizable in water. Aluminium alkyls are highly reactive both towards oxygen (air) and water as explained below. They are exclusively marketed in liquid state and shipped under UN transport class 4.2 (substances liable to spontaneous combustion / pyrophoric liquids) or at least under class.
