Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

This endpoint is addressed on a weight of evidence basis. Three sources of data are provided; these are experimental values reported in formats which have been peer reviewed. All were awarded a reliability score of 2 in accordance with the criteria for assessing data quality as set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

The first experimental value reported was obtained from the second edition of the Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, which identifies the flash point as 88 °C.

The second experimental value reported was obtained from the Physical and Thermodynamic Properties of Pure Chemicals - Data Compilation and Hazardous Chemicals Data Book. The flash point of 2,6-xylenol was concluded to be 358.71 K (85.56 °C).

The final value was obtained from the Handbook of Organic Chemistry, which identifies the flash point as 73 °C. This value was selected as key on the basis that it provides a worst case scenario. This value is outside the range for classification and labelling.
