Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The influence of test material on the respiration rate of activated sludge was investigated in a study which was conducted under GLP conditions and in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 209 and ISO 8192.

Since the test material was poorly soluble in water test concentrations were prepared separately in Milli-RO water. Two test bottles containing initial loading rates of 200 mg/L were stirred for at least 24 hours. Subsequently, synthetic sewage feed and sludge were added resulting in final loading rates of 100 mg/L. Optimal contact between the test material and test medium was ensured by applying continuous aeration and stirring.

No significant inhibition of respiration rate of the sludge was recorded at the test material concentration of 100 mg/L. Therefore, no further testing was needed.

Under the conditions of the study, the test material was not toxic to waste water (activated sludge) bacteria at a loading rate of 100 mg/L. Hence, the EC50 exceeded a loading rate of 100 mg/L.
