Description of key information

Adsorption coefficient (calculated by PCKOCWIN v. 1.66, 2000):
Koc: 256 (neutral form)
Koc: 433 (protonated form)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
433

Additional information

Dicyclohexylamine is non-ionic substance. Log Kow value is below 3 and it is ready biodegradable.

In accordance with Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance", Chapter R.7.1.15.4 Conclusions on adsorption desorption, testing is not required.

The distribution between the organic phase of soil or sediments and the pore water was estimated using a QSAR. The Koc is estimated to be 256 for the neutral and 433 for the protonated form of dicyclohexylamine, respectively (Bayer Industry Services, 2005b).

According to Litz (1990) the calculated values indicate that dicyclohexylamine is supposed to have a moderate geoaccumulation potential.

For comparison the soil adsorption coefficient of DCHA was estimated using the latest version of KOCWIN v2.00 as Koc = 423.8 L/kg (Kow method).

Estimated soil adsorption coefficient of DCHA (KOCWIN v 2.00) using the measured log P, log P = 2.724 (more detailed in section about bioaccumulation) measured at pH 6.7 (Research Institute for Organic Syntheses Inc., 2010) was Koc = 52.08 L/kg (Kow method).
