Description of key information

LD50 (Red-Winged Blackbird) = 75 mg/kg-bw

NOEC (Quail, male) = 56.2 mg/kg-bw based on fertility of eggs from female mate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Avian testing is not needed due to the large mamallian dataset available on 1,4-Butynediol and based on a measured LD50 of 75 mg/kg-bw (Schafer, et. al., 1983) for red-winged blackbirds (Agetaius phoeniceus) and a NOEC of 56.2 mg/kg-bw for male quail based on the fertility of eggs from female mates (Schafer, et. al., 1982).
