Residual moisture:

The test item contains a residual moisture of 0.1 wt.-%, which was determined by drying the test item under vacuum.

The reference item potassium bromate contains a residual moisture of < 0.1 wt.-%, which was determined by drying the test item under vacuum. The reference item cellulose contains a residual moisture of 4.0 wt.-%, which was determined by drying the test item under vacuum.

Oxidizing properties:

The results of the reference mixtures of Potassium bromate and Cellulose are shown in Table 1:

The mean burning times of the test item-to-Cellulose ratio 4:1 (141 s) and 1:1 (258 s) are higher than the mean burning times of a 3:7 and 2:3 mixture of Potassium bromate and Cellulose (113 s or 55 s, respectively). The test item in the 4:1 or 1:1 test item-to-Cellulose ratio exhibits a mean burning time greater than the mean burning time of a 3:7 mixture of Potassium bromate and Cellulose.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: no oxidising properties
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
UN-Transport regulations:
The test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid in Division 5.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulations.
GHS and EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline), Annex 1: 2.14:
The test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid according to GHS and EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline) Annex 1: 2.14.
Executive summary:

The objective of this study was the determination of the oxidizing properties of the test item according to the  Recommendations on the TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS: Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5. edition, New York and Geneva, 2009: Division 5.1: Oxidizing Solids, Test O.1.

Result:

The mean burning times of the test item-to-Cellulose ratio 4:1 (141 s) and 1:1 (258 s) are higher than the mean burning times of a 3:7 and 2:3 reference mixture of Potassium bromate and Cellulose (113 s or 55 s, respectively). The test item in the 4:1 or 1:1 test item-to-Cellulose ratio exhibits a mean burning time greater than the mean burning time of a 3:7 mixture of Potassium bromate and Cellulose.

The test item is not an oxidizing solid.
