Additional information

The substance is rapidly hydrolysed to terephthalic acid (TPA) and HCl. The studies used for derivation of the PNECs for TCL are studies done using the major degradate TPA. Therefore, the environmental hazard assessment for this test substance will be based on the primary degradate, terephthalic acid.

Based on the available data, the substance does not need to be classified according to EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
