First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures:
General advice: Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately.
If someone exposed to the product feels unwell, contact a doctor and show this safety data sheet.
Adhere to personal protective measures when giving first aid.
If inhaled: Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.
Call in a physician immediately and show him the Safety Data Sheet.
In case of skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.
If symptoms persist, call a physician.
In case of eye contact: Rinse immediately with gently running water for 15 minutes, maintaining eyelids open. Consult at once an ophthalmologist or a physician.
If swallowed: Immediately give plenty of water (if possible charcoal slurry). Call a physician immediately. Do not induce vomiting.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
No information available.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
If ingested, irrigate the stomach using activated charcoal in addition.
Treat symptomatically.
In case of lung irritation, treat first with corticoid dosing aerosol (i.e. Pulmicort).

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:
Suitable extinguishing media: dry powder, foam, water spray jet, carbon dioxide.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: strong water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Hydrogen chloride (HCl), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2).

Advice for fire-fighters:
Use self-contained breathing apparatus, wear flame-proof clothes, flame-proof gloves, and, if necessary, flame-proof hood as well as helmet and fire-brigade boots when fighting fire.
Fire residues and contaminated fire fighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Use personal protective clothing.

Environmental precautions : Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil

Methods for cleaning up:
Pump up larger quantities.
Pick up with liquid binding materials and if necessary fill in containers capable of being locked.
Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.
Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the regulations.
Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations

Handling and storage

Handling: During its whole lifecycle the substance is handled in closed system under strictly controlled conditions in accordance to Art. 18(4, a-f) of the REACH legislation. This fact is confirmed by the producer and the user of the product.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep only in the original container.
Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed and dry in a cool, well-ventilated place.
Advice on common storage: Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs.
German storage class : 10 - Combustible liquids.

Exposure controls / personal protection

During the whole lifecycle all neccessary measures in accordance to Art. 18(4) of REACH legislation are undertaken to minimise emissions and any resulting exposure.
Engineering measures: Provide general ventilation.
Personal protective equipment:
Respiratory protection: Use respiratory protection in case of insufficient exhaust ventilation or prolonged exposure.
Hand protection: PVC gloves. These types of protective gloves are offered by various manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers´ detailed statements, especially about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used.
Eye protection: tightly fitting safety glasses.
Skin and body protection: protective clothing.
Hygiene measures: At work do not eat, drink or smoke. Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Use barrier skin cream.
Protective measures: Do not inhale gases/vapours/aerosols. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals.
Environmental exposure controls: Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil.
MAK value: 30 mg/m3.
The MAK-Value (max. workstation concentration) is the maximum concentration of a working material as gas, steam or aerosol in the air with an eight-hour exposure and an average number of hours worked per week of 40 hours, with which the health of the persons employed is not impaired.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.
Chemical stability: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.
Conditions to avoid: Avoid excessive heat, flame, and spark.
Incompatible materials: Not known
Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide, hydrogen chloride gas.
Thermal decomposition: > 500 °C (10 K/min). Method: DTA

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:
Product: Product should be taken to a suitable and authorized waste disposal site in accordance with relevant regulations and if necessary after consultation with the waste disposal operator and/or the competent Authorities.
Contaminated packaging: Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste.
