Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

OECD SIDS (2005):

Bioconcentration factors (BCF) measured for fish (Cyprinus carpio) by a test procedure similar to the OECD TG 305C were in the range of 4.6-8.5 for 1.0 mg/l and 4.7-22 for 0.1 mg/l phthalimide, respectively (MITI, 1993).

Taking into account the octanol-water partition coefficient, a bioconcentration factor (BCF) can be calculated with the BCFWIN Program (v. 2.15). Using an experimental log Kowof 1.15, the calculated BCF was 1.53 (Bayer Industry Services, 2004).

Thus no significant potential for bioaccumulation of phthalimide in aquatic organisms is indicated.
