Description of key information

The boiling point of members of this category have been measured in the range 99.2°C (C8) - 202°C (C12) indicating that boiling point increases with carbon number.

A guideline proprietary study measured the boiling point of 68606-29-1 as 99.2°C (Chilworth Global, 2010). A guideline proprietary study measured the boiling point of 93685-78-0 as 109.8°C (INEOS 2009). A guideline proprietary study (Aqura analytical solutions) measured the boiling point of 97280-83-6 as 202°C. A proprietary study (Evonik 2008) measured the boiling point of 97280-83-6 as 192 – 215°C and this has been used as a supporting study.

New data are available for 5 streams in this category from Intertek (2018):

EC# 500-001-0_Intertek 2019_Key: 131 - 307.5 ºC.

EC# 500-004-7_Intertek 2019_Key: 162.5 - 300.5 ºC.

EC# 293-263-8_Intertek 2019_Key: 171.5 - 197 ºC.

EC# 306-479-5_Intertek 2019_Key: 185.5 - 217.5 ºC.

EC# 293-262-2_Intertek 2019_Key: 227.2 - 272 ºC.

The mean of the boiling point values for the category is 136.7°C and this has been used to complete the 'key value for chemical safety assessment'.
