Description of key information
Sipos, 2010, is presented as the key study for this endpoint. The study was conducted according to the OECD 301 guideline and under GLP conditions. The study was performed on a washed activated sludge inoculum which was collected from a municipal waste treatment plant dealing with predominantly domestic waste. The registered substance achieved 4% degradation after 28 days and therefore does not meet the criteria for consideration as readily biodegradable.

Additional information
Sipos, 2010, was selected as the key study based upon the reliability of the study report. The study provided a sufficient level of reporting for methodology and results to allow comparison to other substances and was therefore considered to aqueuately fulfill the regulatory endpoint. Sipos, 2010, reported a total degradation of 4% after 28 days in water, which does not meet the requirement for consideration as readily biodegradable.
Kondo et al, 1988, Bouwer & McCarthy, 1983, Janssen et al, 1988 and Bouwer & McCarthy, 1985, are presented as supporting informaiton only.
Bouwer & McCarthy, 1983 and Bouwer & McCarthy, 1985, were allocated reliability scores of 2 in accordance with the criteria set out by Klimisch et al, 1997, based upon the leel of detail reported. Kondo et al, 1988, and Janssen et al, 1988, were awarded reliability scores of 4 (according to the Klimisch criteria) as insufficient information was presented to allow for assessment of the reliability.
